Bible Study Lesson: Eternal Death

The third and final of the Death series.

Eternal means forever, everlasting, without end, etc. What does that mean for those whose will die eternally? Well, if you have chosen to reject Christ, then you will have a never-ending death.

You don’t get another chance. You’ll never say I’ll change my mind. Nope, When the scripture said “Today is the day of Salvation, now is the acceptable time” you should have chosen then, because tomorrow nor the next second is promised.

I remember my Pastor saying that the saddest funeral is a person dies without Christ. Let’s face it, a funeral is already sad to begin with, but to know that the person being buried has died rejecting Christ is painful and sadly, the pain is more severe in my opinion, because there is no logical way to say “Goodbye” any longer.

I lost a dear friend of mine a couple of years ago and I cried like crazy and it wasn’t just the pain of losing them, but the pain of knowing I’ll never see him again. He wasn’t interested in learning about Jesus and he was the nicest person I’ve ever knew, but at that moment I saw something different in him, when he said that he wasn’t interested and didn’t want to talk about Jesus. I’ll never forget that and I never approached the subject with him again.

Why didn’t I approach the subject with him again? Because, his decision is between him and God. I did what I was supposed to do, to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. If anyone is not receptive to it, you can’t force I and Let it be known that God is not going to force you either. He gave us free will, so that we will be willing to want to be his children.

It has always been by grace through faith in Christ that we’re saved (Ephesians 2:8-9). It’s not about us at all, it’s always and forever will be about Jesus Christ.

So you want to see why Eternal Death is real and final?

Ok, lets do this

Daniel 12:2 “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt”

Isaiah 33:14 “Sinners in Zion are terrified; Trembling has seized the godless “Who among us can live with continual burning?”

Psalms 37: 38 “But transgressors will be altogether destroyed; the posterity of the wicked will be cut off.”

Psalms 37:20 “But the wicket will perish; and the enemies of the Lord will be like the glory of the pastures, they vanish-like smoke they vanish away”

Matthew 10:28 “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Matthew 18:8 “If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire.”

Matthew 25: 41-45 “Then He will also say to those on his left, “Depart from me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels, for I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.” “Then they themselves also will answer, “Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?” “Then He will answer them, “Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.”

John 5:29 “And will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.”

Philippians 3:18-19 “For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things.”

Revelation 20:10 “And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”

Revelation 20:14-15 “Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

Revelation 21:8 “But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

Eternal Death is also known as the Second Death, which is spoken of the most in Revelation.

Physical Death is a one-time deal and we all have an appointed time to leave this earth (Hebrews 9:27) If you die without Christ, then you will participate in the Second aka Eternal Death and you’re forever lost.

Now that I have a relationship with Jesus, I can’t imagine a life without him and he’s always on my mind. He’s with me wherever I go, do, feel, think, etc. He convicts me when I do something wrong and say “make things right” (I can sometimes hear my first name being called out) It’s a parental/child relationship and it’s also a friendship. It’s the only relationship that I know that will last forever and ever.

If you don’t know Christ, then this post should be enough to get you into high gear now to get to know him. Why are you waiting? Procrastinating? Don’t want to stop having fun? Being a Christian is fun, because the party really begins in Heaven, instead of probably sweating bullets in the lake of fire.

So, if today you found out that you have 12 hours to live, do you know for certain that you will go to Heaven to be with God? Or do you choose just want to spend eternity dead for real, for real?

The clock is literally ticking ………..
